Abhay Deol's movies are characterized by down-to-earth acting. He stated in an interview that he is not into acting because of his famous uncle and his cousins but that he was involved in theatre in school. He has done majority of work with debutant directors; rather unusual and daring in the context of "star driven" Hindi film industry.
